Expert in the fabrication of large diameter and heavy walled pressure vessels, with specialist capability in shell & tube heat-exchangers. Fitzroy is also extremely proficient in the construction of processing skids, piping, modules and associated equipment. We are experienced in the use of chrome moly, duplex and SAF, clad plate, stainless steels and exotics.
Shipping and Transport
We are a short distance from a modern world-class deep-water port facility, Port Taranaki. Loads of over 600 tonnes can be transported to the port via a heavy haulage route 8.5km from our workshops. The heavy haulage route has no vertical obstructions and can take a maximum width of 17m. We have successfully barged and shipped our work to various locations in Australasia, Asia and the Pacific.

Fitzroy Engineering have developed extensive expertise in the design, fabrication and maintenance of shell & tube heat exchangers and offer a total life-cycle heat exchanger service encompassing;

We have adopted a high-tech approach and invested in the best equipment available to ensure consistent, high quality and cost efficient outputs, and established a dedicated workshop with highly trained staff to specialise in heat exchanger work.
We offer refurbishment of tube bundles & heat exchangers including the reuse of tubesheets and/or baffles where possible; replacement of tubes with like or changed tube materials; repairs to or replacement of shells, shell strakes, nozzles and channel heads. Fitzroy Engineering has invested in state of the art equipment from Italy for the disassembly of tube bundles;
- Cutting tubes free from the tubesheet
- Extraction of tube stubs from tubesheet
- Extraction of tubes from exchanger (in the case of in-situ repairs or where both tubesheets are welded to the exchanger shell)
- Refurbishment of expansion grooves prior to loading new tubes
Replacement tube bundles can be fabricated to client design or redesigned & built to latest code standards including change to materials (types and thicknesses) if required. A standard set of process steps has been developed for producing complete tube bundles in the fastest, most efficient method possible using the Orbimatic tube to tubesheet semi-automatic welding system, wireless telemetry digital micrometers for measuring, recording and verifying tube expansion to client specification.
